Why cereal?
When you consider the benefits of cereal, you’ll see why it is a great breakfast choice.

Ready-to-eat cereals are rich in important vitamins and minerals, yet lower in calories than many other breakfast options.

Cereal eaters also consume less fat, less cholesterol and more fiber than noncereal eaters

The benefits of Big G cereals
All General Mills Big G cereals have whole grain as the first ingredient. Just look for the white check!

Cereal is already one of the healthiest breakfast choices you can make. And the entire Big G cereal line is made with whole grains, making breakfast even healthier.

Scientific evidence that whole grain is good for your body.

Five Ways Whole Grains Can Change Your Life:

  1. Heart health. Heart-healthy diets rich in whole grain foods can reduce the risk of heart disease.
  2. Reduce cancer risk. Low fat diets rich in fiber-containing grain products, fruits and vegetables may reduce the risk of some types of cancer, particularly of the stomach and colon.
  3. Manage diabetes. The American Diabetes Association recommends whole grain as part of a diabetic diet.
  4. Keep you regular. Fiber from whole grains promotes regularity and keeps the intestines working smoothly to help maintain good digestive health.
  5. Weight management. A growing body of evidence supports that people who eat more whole grain tend to have healthier body weights and gain less weight over time than those who don’t.

Cereal is not applauded with great fanfare in our house, so if I find a winner, then it's great news! This has a wonderful taste but in my opinion as an adult, the sugar content is a little high. Other than that, the whole grain thing is great and if you're trying to get your children to eat grains more, then this one should fit the bill quite well. Recommend!

5.0 out of 5 stars Yum Yum, February 15, 2012
This review is from: Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cereal, 16.2-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 5) (Grocery)
I love the fact, that General Mills made the label reading process easy. They now have a white check on some cereal boxes. Is it still the same old cereal? Now every cereal with the white check has more whole grain than any other single ingredient with the same great taste. You will see "whole grain" as a part of the first ingredient on the ingredient list, indicating that whole grain is the first and most prevalent ingredient. This is my kids' favorite (or at least one of favorites) and something that they keep asking for. Ingredients are good and the general sugar content is not high. Great product

5.0 out of 5 stars Now with WHOLE GRAIN...like the HOLE in your BRAIN!, October 19, 2007

General Mills introduced Cinnamon Toast Crunch breakfast cereal in the mid 1980's with the simple but effective jingle, "Feelin' like cinnamon toast; Feelin' like Cinnamon Toast Crunch; Feelin' like cinnamon and sugar; Feelin' like homemade taste..." Later, three jolly cartoon bakers were featured in Cinnamon Toast Crunch TV commercials, and were soon utilized to liven up the heretofore boring box design. The Bakers enjoyed dancing around on black and white linoleum kitchen floors while singing, "We're cinnamon and sugar shakers, Cinnamon Toast Crunch Bakers," to enthralled youngsters. Eventually, the slim brown-haired Baker and the chubby black-haired Baker mysteriously disappeared from both the box and the commercials, leaving only Wendell, the fat white-haired Baker with glasses. Around that same time, a cinnamon swirl design was added to the cereal pieces. Perhaps the two missing Bakers disagreed with Wendell's decision to swirl the cinnamon. Or maybe the advertising...
